Choose what you want removed
1. Delete my account and associated data
Permanently removes your BDC Church account and the personal information held with it, apart from records the church is required to keep. See what happens to each kind of record below.
2. Delete selected personal data only
Keeps your account but removes specific information — for example a prayer request, a pastoral-care request, part of your profile, or another submission. Tell us which items and we will remove those.
How to send the request
Email info@bdchapel.org with the subject BDC Church Data Deletion Request, and include:
- The email address or telephone number your account uses, so we can find it
- Whether you want the whole account deleted, or only certain data
- If only certain data, which items
What happens next
We may contact you to confirm your identity before acting, so that nobody can have somebody else’s records deleted. Once verified, we remove or anonymise your information and confirm when it is done.
What happens to each kind of record
Being straightforward about this matters more than sounding thorough:
- Prayer requests, contact messages, appointment bookings, newsletter subscriptions and partnership enquiries — deleted outright.
- Giving and shop records — anonymised, not deleted. Your name, email address and telephone number are removed; the amount and date remain, because the church’s accounts must still balance and are subject to audit. What is left cannot be traced back to you.
- Your account — closed, with login details and session records removed.
What we may have to keep
Some information is retained even after a deletion request, where the law requires it:
- Financial, tax and accounting records
- Records needed for fraud prevention or a security investigation
- Safeguarding records
- Anything needed to establish or defend a legal claim
Where information must be kept, access to it is restricted and it is not used for any unrelated purpose. Information may also remain briefly in secure backups until those are overwritten in the normal cycle.
